Hi Lake Erie, my name is Madi Machado and I swim for the Solon Stars. I am the junior rep as well as a member of the zone team committee and events & operations committee. I wanted to join the board because my childhood coach always told me to give back to the Lake Erie community. Finally now after years of him telling me that, I decided this is how I can give back. Lake Erie Swimming has given me my best friends and the ability to be confident in who I am. All I want to do is be able to help other athletes have the same experiences that I did in this LSC. Over the years I have gotten the opportunity to compete on five zone teams, two high school state teams and an all star mid state team. I am also the 100 breast school record holder at Chagrin Falls.

My name is Evan Kemp and I am the club team representative for the Peninsula Wave Riders (PWRS). I am 17 years old and live in the town of North East, Pennsylvania. I am an active member of our Erie-based club team and a leader in and out of the pool. One of my biggest accomplishments in the pool was achieving my first AAA and Zones cut in the 100m fly when I was 14. Outside of the pool I like to run, play board games and hangout with my swim friends. I look forward to all of our upcoming and future LE meets/events, and hope to see you guys there!

My name is Zach Toothman and I currently am serving as a National Athlete Representative in my role as the Central Zone Junior Athlete Representative. I attend Case Western Reserve University where I am studying chemical engineering and applied math. From a young age, I’ve always had a love for the sport of swimming. My love for the sport inspired me to become an LSC athlete representative in Lake Erie back in 2019. As the Junior and Senior Athlete Representatives for Lake Erie Swimming, I have taken the Lake Erie athlete’s committee to new heights by restructuring the entire athletes committee, writing Lake Erie’s first athlete manual, revitalizing the social media and athlete pages, coordinating and leading Lake Erie’s first LSC wide service project, and creating innovative events for our championship meets like hot heats and the mystery IM, and advocating for the recognition of 50 stroke and 100 IM records for our 13 & over athletes and distance records for the 10 & Unders. I have been awarded the Athletes Award this past year and the Board of Directors Award the last two years for my involvement and commitment to Lake Erie Swimming. The Lake Erie Swimming Community has provided me so many lifelong memories and friendships that will last me a lifetime!

Hello, my name is Clara Klein and I swim for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins at SPIRE Institute. I am a representative for Lake Erie Swimming because of how much being an athlete member of LESI has made a positive difference in my life and I want to be a part of making that difference for others. I believe in what LESI stands for. The LESI mission, "To enrich the lives of our athletes through the sport of swimming by providing safe and inclusive programming in a culture that encourages competitive excellence and personal growth", has been true for me and I am honored to be a part of making it true for others. My accomplishments in and out of the pool include receiving the Coaches Merit Award, 100 Second Club Award, and being a USA Swimming SHE Leads representative, USA Swimming WE Lead Breakout Leader, SPIRE Institute Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Swim Camp Counselor, Cleveland Clinic Intern, and Honors Student. In addition to swimming, I enjoy running, going to the beach, kayaking, biking, hiking, journaling, and being a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In the spirit of saving the best for last, the most important detail of my life is that I am a Christian and aim to live wholeheartedly for Christ.

I am an incoming junior at St. Ignatius High School. I love sports, school, and spending time with my friends and family. I excel in math and science and am very interested in the body. I am a member of the Pre-Med Society, and I aspire to be a doctor someday. Especially because of my fascination with how the human body works and its functions. I have always loved all sports, but something about being in the water seemed natural to me. Swimming has been such a huge part of my life and shaped me in many aspects of the person I am today. With the support of my friends, family, and coaches, I have worked through tough times and came out with a stronger love for swimming and pushing my body to its limits. From the time I was 7 years old, I have always been a part of the Lake Shore Swim Club family. Over the years it’s grown into more of family, rather than a club. With the support of Head Coach, Eileen Bringman and all of the parents associated, this team really has such a great atmosphere, work ethic, and brotherhood.

Hello Lake Erie, I am Grace Perlberg from the solon stars swim club and I am part of the Zone Team committee. I’m on this committee because for me the Zone Team was one of the best and most memorable meet in my swimming career. It gave me friendships and memories that will last a lifetime and I wanted to make sure that younger swimmers would get that same experience. One of my biggest accomplishments in swimming was finishing 8th at the 2019 zone meet. That is a race I will forever hold close to my heart and I want other swimmers to get a chance to experience that pride you have when you accomplish something bigger than you. The chance to get to be a part of a team bigger than myself or my club team made me a better athlete.

Something I am passionate about is promoting diversity and equity within Lake Erie swimming. I will be attending the 2021 regional diversity select performance workshop and I hope to gain knowledge that I can bring back to our community.
